When you need a real access control system

A closed gate or a locked door delimits a space, but does not tell you who has passed through it. As the number of people, gates and areas to manage grows, this difference becomes a concrete operational problem, not just a theoretical one.

  1. Untracked accessWithout a dedicated system it is impossible to know who actually had access, when and from where. In the event of an internal check or an incident to be clarified, the lack of a reliable history makes it hard to reconstruct the facts.
  2. Too many gates to manageMore access points mean more complexity if they are managed manually or separately from each other. Updating authorisations on each entrance separately increases the risk of errors and inconsistencies between gates.
  3. Visitors and suppliersWithout registration and authorisation, it becomes difficult to know who is on the premises at any given time. Unstructured reception also slows down the day-to-day management of external visitors.
  4. Different areasOffices, operational areas, warehouses: each zone may require a different access level. Treating all spaces the same way, when the real needs are not, leaves the most sensitive areas less protected than necessary.
  5. Differentiated authorisationsStaff, managers, visitors and external personnel may have different access needs in terms of times and permitted areas. Managing these differences manually requires control that is hard to keep up to date over time.
  6. Centralised viewWith multiple sites or gates, you need a single point from which to monitor the whole system. Without a common platform, each installation remains an island and supervision means consulting several separate sources.

What an access control system is

An access control system identifies a person, checks their authorisations and commands the corresponding gate to open, recording the transit. It is the combination of physical devices (turnstiles, gates, barriers) and management software (such as Gate Plus) that makes the system truly effective.

Identification → Authorisation check → Gate opening → Recording

Daicon access control solutions

A complete access control solution combines several elements: a physical gate to control, a way to identify people, software to check authorisations and, where needed, dedicated products for visitors and vehicle access. Daicon covers the entire chain with its own products and platforms.

From identification to access

1

Person

The person arrives at the facility's gate.

2

Identification

Badge, RFID, QR Code or PIN are read/checked by the system at the entrance.

3

Authorisation check

Gate Plus checks the validity of the credential and the associated authorisations.

4

Gate opening

If the check is successful, the turnstile or gate opens.

5

Transit recording

The access is recorded, with reports available in the platform.

Hardware, software and support from a single supplier

Daicon does not just offer a turnstile or a reader: it can design a complete access management system — from design to hardware supply, from software development and configuration to installation and after-sales support. It is this integration — not the single product — that makes the difference when there is more than one gate to manage or needs change over time.

Identification → Authorisation → Software → Gate control → Management → Monitoring → Reports → Support

Design Hardware Software Installation Support

Installation of access control systems throughout Italy

Daicon operates nationwide, with operational offices in Milan and Genoa. Every project starts with a site survey to assess gates, areas to be protected and types of users: on this basis we design the system and supply the most suitable devices.

Our technicians handle the installation of turnstiles, gates and barriers, the configuration of the Gate Plus access control software and commissioning. After start-up we look after the system with technical support and maintenance contracts, including when gates or new sites are added.

We also work far from our offices: one example is the vehicle gate and road blockers installed at the Piombino regasification terminal, presented among the solutions for construction sites and major works. For temporary needs, turnstile rental is also available, with installation and collection at the end of the works.

FAQ

What is an access control system?

An access control system identifies a person (by badge, RFID or QR Code), checks their authorisations and commands the gate to open, recording the transit.

Which identification technologies does Daicon support?

Daicon supports RFID/NFC badges and cards (125 kHz, MIFARE, DESFire), QR Codes and barcodes, integrated through the Gate Plus software.

Can multiple sites be managed from a single platform?

Yes: Gate Plus has a multi-site architecture that lets you manage gates and authorisations for multiple sites from a single centralised platform.

Can vehicle access be managed too?

Yes, with vehicle barriers, road blockers and retractable bollards for controlling vehicle access, which can be integrated with the same software system.

Can turnstiles be rented instead of bought?

Yes, Daicon offers rental of full-height turnstiles for construction sites, events and shows, with installation, commissioning and software integration included.
